Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Amarillo is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Amarillo is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Breaking down in the middle of a cross country road trip is, obviously, not ideal. Having to rely on an unknown mechanic for the repairs makes it even less so. What an immense relief then to find Brian and his staff at Kleinstadt...they were excellent. Proactive and clear communication, warm and friendly customer service, a very fair price, and work that got me across the country plus another month and a half of daily driving. Highly recommended! And many, many thank you's!!!

Edited review: I really didnβt want to leave a negative review because I previously had a good experience and rapport with this shop. Unfortunately, my most recent visit has changed that. I brought my vehicle in because the back door wouldnβt open. The shop accepts my ALPHA warranty, so I trusted they could handle it. I dropped it off on March 12th or 13th. What followed was over a week and a half of poor communication and delays. Multiple calls for updates resulted in vague responses: they were having trouble accessing the door, waiting on warranty approval for parts, and eventually said the door was so stuck they might have to cut into the vehicle. I explained that I have two young kids at home, my husband is over-the-road, and I was relying on others for rides while being without my vehicle for more than a week. I repeatedly asked for a realistic timeline and eventually requested the vehicle back (fixed or not) so I could return to work and get the kids to school. Instead of understanding my situation, the owner expressed frustration that the warranty didnβt pay enough and said he was losing money. He even told me that next time he would charge the customer extra beyond the $

Brian gave excellent customer service π He was able to get my car in right away, explained everything that he could do in detail once he looked at the car π had it up and running in just a few days and then explained everything done to it in detail to my questions. The price was a few hundred dollars less than what I expected and the value for my money π° was great π π π― π.

We took my '83 Monte Carlo after we were recommended by another shop. Brian and his team did a great job on it. They kept us updated on the progress and what was required. They'll be the first ones we call if it needs looked at again.

They have very great service here for European cars. I had issues with my Jaguar XJR and they were able to get everything fixed fast and most importantly affordable. They have the best price for full synthetic oil changes too ($69.99). Their mechanics are very professional and know how to work on European vehicles very good. I would recommend them to anyone any day. Thanks for the great service!
